The Tender Maintenance Electronic Services Tab is used to enter data related to electronic transactions: Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Electronic Cash, Electronic Food Stamps, Gift Cards, and Checks (processed through TeleCheck).

Many of these settings are determined by the card that is inserted or slid. That is, the card, in conjunction with the PIN pad and Host, determines the prompts.

From the Electronic Services tab you may add or edit the following areas:

    • Require External Authorization: Flag for all electronic tenders.
    • Time Allowed: Displays the maximum acceptable delay allowed to wait for an external payment authorization. This time must be set long enough to get a response from the payment authorization center.
    • Balance Inquiry: Flag to indicate if balance inquiry is allowed for Electronic Tenders, such as a gift card or electronic food stamps.
    • Partial Amount: Flag to indicate if the Electronic Tender can pay a portion of an order.  For example, the customer may want to pay only a portion of the total with a specific credit, debit, EBT card, or electronic check.
    • Require Gen #: Previously used for EBT. No longer used.
    • Require Mgr Auth: Flag to indicate if manager authorization is required for the tender.
    • ECA Void Check: Flag this field to automatically print VOID on the check if it has been electronically converted.
    • Require PIN #: Flag to indicate if a PIN number must be entered for the Electronic Tender. For example, Debit and EBT cards.
    • Require Expiration: Flag to indicate if an expiration date is required for the Electronic Tender.
    • Require Luhn Check: Flag to indicate if Luhn check is to be done locally for the Electronic Tender.  Luhn check is a pre-check of the card number.  For example: The Luhn check would see if the card number entered is a valid number for the selected tender.
    • Allow Bypass Electronic Auth: Flag to indicate if the Front End can bypass Electronic Authorization. This is only applicable when you are processing Electronic Checks through TeleCheck. Some users want the ability to accept a check on the Front End without processing through TeleCheck, for example, when cashing payroll checks.
      • If this setting is used, then the cashier will use the Manual Credit key on the Front End (CM), and select Check. The check will be read by the MICR, but information will not be sent electronically to the host processor.
    • Allow Manual Transactions: Flag to indicate if manual authorization is allowed for the Electronic Tender.  This allows you to manually key in the card number manually if for some reason the card will not swipe through the pin pad. Debit Card transaction will not allow Manual Authorization.
    • Require Manager Auth for Manual Transactions: Flag this field to require a manager to override a manual entered EBT card. When the cashier enters CM on the front end, then selects the card type (for example, Credit Card), the manager will need to override the transaction.
    • Debit Conversion: Flag to allow conversion of a Debit Card to a Credit Card. On the PIN pad, the customer will be able to select whether to convert to Debit or continue as a Credit transaction.
