Analyze Product Categories
Use the Analyze Product Categories form to view products in a product category and to calculate a cumulative gross margin for the product category. When Retail calculates the cumulative gross margin, it will ignore products that are above 50% gross margin.
From the Point of Sale Menu, double-click on Analyze Product Categories in the task list.
Select one of the following category types using the drop-down list to the right of the category heading:
- Department: To select a Department to view, choose from the drop-down box. Press the Execute Query button in the toolbar after your selection has been made. The list of products in that department will appear on the bottom of the form. Retail will calculate the cumulative Gross Margin in that product category, ignoring all the products that are over 50% gross margin.
- Section: The Sections field is a sub-category of the Product’s Department. To select a Section to view, choose from the drop-down box. Press the Execute Query button in the toolbar after your selection has been made. The list of products in that section will appear on the bottom of the form.
- Vendor: To select a Vendor to view, choose from the drop-down box. Press the Execute Query button in the toolbar after your selection has been made. The list of products supplied by that vendor will appear on the bottom of the form.
- Other: The Other field displays a list of user-defined categories. Total Store, DSD and a user defined product group (created in Product Group Maintenance) are used in this field. Enter the user-defined category if you know the name, or use the drop-down list box to click on your selection. Press the Execute Query button in the toolbar after your selection has been made.
Once the category you wish to analyze is displayed, press the “Execute The Query” button to begin the calculation. Gross Margin and Total Items display for the selected category. The products that are included in the count are displayed in the list at the bottom of the form.
