The Product Group Maintenance form is used for creating new Product Groups.  For example, you can create a product group for a specific brand of cake mixes. Product Groups can be set up with the following four options:

    • Product Groups for Reporting: Once you have created a Product Group for Reporting you can pull up Sales in the Customer Sales or Product Sales form. You can also analyze your Gross Profits for a particular Product Group in the Analyze Product Category form. Products can be assigned to multiple Reporting Groups.
    • Product Groups for Pricing: Once you have created a Product Group for Pricing the product price changes can be applied for the entire group through the Product Maintenance form, or applied to all items in the group in an Ad batch or Normal price change batch. Products can only be assigned to one Pricing Group.
    • Special Mix Match Codes are used for groups with like items on sale, for example, soft drinks or cake mixes. They should have the same price. Special Mix Match Codes expire when the sale is over. For example, buy 1 candy bar for $1.05, buy 3 in the group for $3.00.
    • Regular Mix Match Codes are used to group the items for use with or normal group pricing. For example, buy 1 candy bar for $1.05, buy 3 in the group for $3.00.
