The Manager Functions Tab allows the user to maintain security for each Manager function on the checkstand. To perform the following functions the employee must be assigned a Back End password. Once the Back End password is entered Retail checks the employees Front End security levels to determine if they can perform the task.

Note: Certain functions are now available without a manager override, dependent upon entries in the ros.ini file. These are adding a product and suspending and resuming transactions.Add_ProductSuspend_and_Resume_Transaction

The Manager Function tab displays the following Manager functions:

    • FSA Account (FATL):
    • Add Customer (MGAC): Use the Add Customer function to add a new customer to your customer file.  The Add a Customer form only requires a limited amount of data entry, so it is a good idea to go back to the Customer Maintenance task and complete the customer entry.
    • Add Product (MGAP): Use the Add Product function to add a new product to your product file.  The Add a Product form only requires a limited amount of data entry. The user should use the Product Maintenance form to complete the product entry.
      • Cashiers are allowed to add products without a manager override if AllowAddProducts=1 exists in the MISC. section of the ros.ini file. If the cashier scans an item that is not entered in the database, she will be prompted to add it.
      • To disable this feature, change to AllowAddProducts=0. A manager will be able to enter products on the front end by going through the manager form.
    • Debit Cash Back (MGCB):
    • Check Override (MGCK): Use the Check Override function to override a check.  Possible reasons to override a check might be the customer wishes to write the check for more than the system allows for cash back, or to override the message that a customer does not have check writing privileges.
    • Check List (MGCL): Use the Checklist function to run a cashiers check list.
    • Loan In (MGLN): Use the Loan-In function to loan a cashier’s till with more money.  This can also be done in the Monitor Till task in the Back End.
    • Account Limit Override (MGMI): Use the Account Limit Override to override a charge transaction.  This will override the message on the Front End for a customer that does not have charge privileges, or the message for a customer that is over their charge limit. The customer will then be allowed to use the In Store Charge account.
    • Media Swap (MGMS): Use the Account Limit Override to override a charge transaction.  This will override the message on the Front End for a customer that does not have charge privileges, or the message for a customer that is over their charge limit. The customer will then be allowed to use the In Store Charge account.
    • Pickup (MGPU): Use the Pickup function to pickup up tender from the Front End.  Tenders must be set up to Allow Pickups in the Tender Maintenance task.
    • Resume Transaction (MGRE): Use the Resume Transaction function to resume a suspended transaction.
      • To require a manager password to perform suspend and resume transactions, UseSecurityOnSU=1 must be entered in the MISC. section of the ros.ini file. Without this entry, or if UseSecurityOnSU=0, then a manager will not be required for this feature.
    • Screen Lock Override (MGSL): Use the Screen Lock Override to allow a manager to override a cashier’s screen lock.
    • Sign-Off Override (MGSO): Use the Manager Sign off to allow a manager to sign the current cashier off to the desktop.
    • Suspend Transaction (MGSU): Use the Suspend Transaction function to suspend an order at the Front End.  You must use the Resume Transaction to pull the transaction up again.
      • To require a manager password to perform suspend and resume transactions, UseSecurityOnSU=1 must be entered in the MISC. section of the ros.ini file. Without this entry, or if UseSecurityOnSU=0, then a manager will not be required for this feature.
    • Training Mode (MGTR): Use the Training Mode to set the Front End in training mode.  When the register is in training mode the sales transactions are not written anywhere. The sign on for Training Mode is ‘0’. The Front-End will prompt for a manager number when the cashier signs on.
    • Till Status (MGTS): Use the Till Status to run a Till Status report for a cashier’s countdown.
