Product Settings
The Product Settings form controls automatic update options for scale interfaces and item code updates, package size and unit of measure display options for printing labels, and the grid display for the Products form, accessed by pressing the Hide/Show Product List button in the toolbar.
The following sections display:
Product Search:
- Search Product By UPC – This is flagged by default, allowing the user to search for a product by the UPC number. From Product Maintenance, enter the UPC code and press tab or enter.
- Search Product By Item Code – Flag this field to allow the user to search for a product by the item code. From Product Maintenance, enter the Item Code and press tab or enter. A list of all items with that item code will be displayed for selection.
Product Limitation:
- Maximum Price – Enter the maximum price that the price field will accept. This is used to prevent entry errors, for example, scanning the UPC code in the price field.
Product Display Options:
- Limited number of products - Allows you to specify the number of products to display in the grid, accessed by pressing the Show/Hide Product List button in the toolbar. Enter the number of products to display in the grid in Product Maintenance. Products with higher and lower UPCs will be displayed. For example, enter '50' in this field. In Product Maintenance, enter UPC 0000000000100. Press the Show/Hide button in the toolbar. UPCs 0000000000075 through 0000000000125 will be displayed.
- All products with the same product group or with the same item codes - for display in the product list grid
- All products with the same item code - for display in the product list grid
Product Update Options:
- Set ? as the Default UOM: Select from the drop-down the default UOM.
- Use 'Pk Qty' and 'Pkg UOM' size fields. Flag these fields to enable Pack Quantity and Package Unit of Measure fields. If unflagged, these fields will be grayed out (inaccessible) in Product Maintenance. These fields are for use with Print Custom Labels.
- Automatically update all products with the same item code. With this option selected when the ‘Save’ button is pressed every item with the same item code will be changed.
- Set Department Defaults (Without Prompting). When the user changes the Department of an existing product, or creates a new product, the item will automatically inherit all the attributes of the department. For example, foodstamp, discounts, taxes, will all be applied to the product based on the department.
- Set Sections belonging to a Department. With this flagged, only the Sections that are connected to the selected Department be displayed in the Section drop-down. For example, the Dairy Department may have Milk, Cream, and Yogurt as Sections. A section not connected, such as Cleaning Supplies, will not be displayed.
- Automatically update scales for random weight items. With this option selected when the ‘Save’ button is pressed the scales will be automatically updated with changes made to random weight items.
Make your selection and press the Apply button. Once you return to the Product Maintenance task the grid will reflect your selection. Use the Hide/Show Products List button in the toolbar to display the grid.
