The Scale Service Area Maintenance form is used to create and manage the scale departments when using the Interscale interface.

Scale organizes the Master database items by the Scale Department where it is sold. Each of the Scale Departments has a set of scales and PLU items assigned to it. This number is not generally the same, although it can be the same, as the Retail Department number and should not be confused with it.

A mapping of the Retail Department to Scale Departments is done through the Scale Department Maintenance form, which is accessed though the Scale Department Maintenance button located on the Scale Item Maintenance form.

    • Number: Enter the scale department number.
    • Description: Enter the name of the scale department.
    • Scale Desc. Length: The length of the description is displayed. Default is 32. Increasing the length can result in an improper display on the label.
    • Scale Desc. Lines: The number of description lines is displayed. Default is 2.
    • Ingredient Desc. Length: The scale ingredient description length is displayed. Increasing the length can result in an improper display on the label.
    • Tares: Flag this field if the department uses Tare weight.
    • Retail Department: Select the Retail Department from the drop-down. The same Retail department can be associated with multiple scales.
