Edit a Product
Use the Edit a Product procedure to update or change product information.
You can access the Edit a Product dialogue from the Point of Sales Menu by clicking on the Product Maintenance task.
Generally, when you edit a product, it is to change its price or attributes.
- From the Point of Sales menu, click on the Product Maintenance task.
- Enter the Product UPC code in the UPC fieldUPC_code or double-click on a product in the Product list box. You can also use the Search (ellipsis) button to the right of the UPC field to search for products by their Description, UPC, Item Code, Cost, Normal Price, Special Cost, Special Price, Department, Section, Vendor, Pack Size, DSD, Modified Date, or Current Batch No. Up to three different criteria can be selected for the search. Press the Find button to populate the list. After finding your product, double-click on the name in the list or highlight and press OK.
- You can change the Normal PricingNormal_Pricing information by first verifying the pricing method Pricing_Methodfor this product. The Pricing Method you select for Normal Pricing and Special PricingSpecial_Pricing determines which fields are available to you in each of these group boxes.
- Verify or change the Product Attributes.Product_Attributes
- Press the Save button in the toolbar.
The following additional functions can be performed via the toolbar:
Product_Settings
Use the following toolbar buttons to view Product Information:
- Click the Product Movement button to view sales movement for selected product.
- Click the Price History button to view previous price changes for the selected product.
- Click the Coupons button to see Electronic Coupons triggered by the product.
- Click the Batches button to display previous, current and future product batches.
Tip: You can print Labels from this dialogue by clicking on the Print Labels button in the toolbar or use the Export LabelsExport_Labels button to create an export file for product labels data.
Note: You can delete a product by pressing the Delete a Product button in the toolbar. A message box will appear prompting for a reason for the deletion. Fill in the reason and press the OK button. The product will not be removed from the Product List box until the Synchronize Checkstands with Products task is run.
